We had a great day dressing up as our favourite book characters - have a look at our costumes.
We have been reading Anisha - Accidental Detective. In the story she makes a volcano experiment for the Science Fair. Today we made our own volcano experiments!

Holly class had a great time at the Christmas Fayre. They won lots of prizes and even met Santa Claus!

Year 2 did a fantastic job today whilst performing their Christmas play 'Straw & Order'. We are so proud of how hard they have worked and they should be proud of themselves. It all paid off and their singing and acting was excellent.

Year 2 had a great time on their trip to Rye Meads Nature Reserve. We explored different habitats and found minibeasts by log rolling, net sweeping and pond dipping!

Today we had a visitor in our history lesson. Kerri used to go to Tanners Wood when she was little and we asked her lots of questions about what it was like. This helped with our learning about local history and it was very interesting to find things out. One of the most interesting things we found was that there used to be a small swimming pool on the KS1 playground - it was empty when Kerri attended but it must’ve been filled once!

The Mighty Pen Workshop

Recently we have been exploring artwork by Brazilian artist Romero Britto. We had a go at creating our own animals in the style of his work.

Science Investigation
In Science we have been investigating materials and how suitable they are for different purposes. We carried out an experiment to find out which material would be best for mopping up spilt water. We dipped the materials in water and watched carefully to see which absorbed the water the fastest.

Rye Meads Nature Reserve Trip
We had lots of fun on our trip to Rye Meads Nature Reserve. We explored different activities where we searched for minibeasts in their habitats. Looking at both land and pond habitats, we tried log rolling, sweep netting and pond dipping! We found lots of minibeasts, including millipedes, grasshoppers, ramshorn snails and leeches!

D&T day!
Today we had lots of fun exploring engineering and inventing. We had an assembly with Innovation Ben who inspired us to think of problems that we could invent solutions for. We then designed our inventions which will be entered into the 'If you were an engineer what would you do?' competition. In the afternoon we had a go at an egg drop challenge and tried to make towers out of spaghetti and marshmallows.

Today we were learning about block graphs. We made a tally of how many of each coloured smartie there was in a tube and then represented this data in a graph.

This week we have been celebrating Anti-Bullying Week. The theme this year was ONE KIND WORD. This afternoon we wrote one kind word for each of our peers. It made us feel happy, loved and cared for to read all of the kind things people had to say about us!

This afternoon Year 2 had their a Game On session. We learnt lots of fantastic skills needed for rugby, like throwing and catching the ball and also how to score a try.
