Wednesday 4th December

We were very lucky to have a visit from the Kings Langley Fire and Rescue service this morning. We found out what to do in an emergency and learnt all about the different parts of the fire engine. We even had a chance to sit inside the fire engine and pretend we were firefighters! When the fire engine left they set off the siren so that we could hear how loud it is.

This week’s Nursery Rhyme is Hey Diddle Diddle. As we were singing the song we realised that we weren’t sure what a fiddle was! Miss Webster, one of our Y2 teachers came to show us her violin and play us some music. We even sang along to Twinkle Twinkle as she played.

This week we have been celebrating World Nursery Rhyme Week. Today's song was 5 Currant Buns. We made our own delicious currant bun biscuits with a cherry on the top.

We also visited our brand new library for the first time. Every week we will spend time in the library, sharing stories together and looking at books.

Friday 8th November

Four children from Apple Class were given the very special job of helping Mr McDonough to plant trees in our new Eco garden. George, Rowan, Dottie and Maddison did an amazing job-digging holes and planting the new trees. We can't wait to spend time in the Eco Garden when it is finished!

Thursday 7th November

As part of our Understanding the World learning, we have been talking about Remembrance Day. We created our own beautiful poppies and put them together to create poppy wreaths. These have been displayed on the fence outside the Nursery gates for everybody to see. On Monday we will take part in a minute of silence at 11am.

Thursday 17th October

This week we read the story Mixed by Arree Chung. In the story, there are three colours-the Reds, the Blues and the Yellows. The colours fall out with each other and decide to live separately. After a while, a Blue and a Yellow meet and decide to mix...they make Green! By the end of the story, lots of new amazing colours have been created. We did our own colour mixing by painting our hands and then rubbing them together to make a new colour.

Thursday 10th October

We now start off every morning in our Busy Fingers groups. This time is for us to focus on building up the muscles and control in our fingers and hands, getting our hands ready for drawing and writing. This week we had lots of fun rolling conkers in paint, creating autumn leaves, picking up conkers with tweezers, using the playdough and using the pompoms and dinosaurs to follow patterns.

Friday 4th October

This week we have been making the most of the return of the sunshine! We went on an Autumn walk and collected lots of beautiful leaves. We used the leaves to make Autumn crowns. The children all looked amazing coming out at home time wearing them!

Our Phonics learning this week has been based on Humpty Dumpty. We have made up our own rhymes about Humpty, built walls to balance on and stuck eggs back together using plasters.

Thursday 26th September

Look at all of our amazing creations! We have been so impressed with all of the fantastic drawings and clever constructions that have been produced in Apple Class this week.

Thursday 19th September

Over the last few weeks, every class in the school has been working on their art display. Each display is inspired by an artist from around the world. Apple Class have been learning about the Australian artist, Anna Blatman. She likes to paint pictures of the birds, animals and flowers around her. We particularly liked her colourful birds. We made our own birds using paper collage. Can you spot your bird?

Tuesday 4th October 2022

Today we went for a walk around the school grounds looking for signs of Autumn. We found lots of different coloured leaves, as well as acorns, conkers and pine cones. We collected all of the different things we found and we are going to use them to create some beautiful Autumn art work.

Why don't you go for an Autumn walk at the weekend and see what you can find?

Friday 30th September 2022

Today we had our first Mystery Reader! The children were very excited to see who it would be. Harry's Grandad read Norman, The Slug With The Silly Shell to us. We loved the part where Norman makes himself all slimy to escape from the bird.

Tuesday 27th September 2022

We enjoyed an outside PE lesson today while the weather is still nice! In PE we are learning to find a space, move around safely and stop and freeze when we hear the shaker. All of the children did a fantastic job of finding a spot to stand on and showed brilliant listening skills as they followed lots of instructions.

We had lots of fun playing the bean game. See if they can show you how to be a runner bean, a jumping bean, a jelly bean or a French bean!

Thursday 21st October 2021

Today the whole school have enjoyed an amazing Art day! In Nursery we have been exploring different lines, shapes and patterns. We listened to some music and took our pens for a walk and a dance across big pieces of paper. It was lovely to see all of the different things that the music made us think of and it was a good workout for our muscles to make lots of big shapes on paper.
